About Noel Collins

He / They

Noel Collins is a queer photographer focusing on portraits of the LGBTQ community. They completed a BA in human geography from the University of Victoria (BC) in 2018 and are currently studying photography at Concordia University in Montreal QC. They use their knowledge of marginalised communities through academia as well as their experience walking through the world as a queer trans person, to capture queer folks in portraits where their gender is accurately represented. Photography is Noel’s chosen art form because they feel it can capture exactly what a body looks like, including traits not idealised by beauty culture. Sharing this work is intended to make queer folks comfortable with themselves and see examples of their “undesirable” traits on other people, making them feel more in community. Noel's work has been exhibited in the 4th Space Gallery in Montreal QC and Coco's Cafe in Jasper AB.
