About Noel Collins

Noel Collins (He/They) is a queer photographer focusing on portraits of the LGBTQ community. They completed a BA in human geography from the University of Victoria (BC) in 2018 and a BFA in photography from Concordia University in Montreal QC in 2024. Currently residing on ĆUÁN / Tl\'elhum (Salt Spring Island), they use their knowledge of marginalised communities through academia as well as their experience walking through the world as a queer trans person, to capture queer folks in portraits and film where their gender is accurately represented. Photography and video is Noel’s chosen art form because they feel it can capture exactly what a body looks like, including traits not idealised by beauty culture. Noel’s photo and video work shares experience and emotions from the queer community, in hopes to make other queer folks feel empowered and less alone. Noel's work has been exhibited in the 4th Space Gallery in Montreal QC and Coco's Cafe in Jasper AB.
